A rare and highly collectible early Gibson UB-1 banjo-ukulele, dating from around 1925–26. Introduced during the height of the 1920s ukulele boom, the UB-1 was Gibson’s smallest banjo-ukulele model, featuring a compact 6-inch rim and distinctive early Gibson construction.

The instrument combines the character and projection of a banjo with the compact scale and four-string layout of a ukulele. It features a wooden resonator, calfskin head, ebonised fingerboard and period Gibson hardware, along with the distinctive “Gibson” branding associated with these early instruments.

An important piece of Gibson history, the UB-1 represents the company’s early entry into the rapidly expanding banjo-ukulele market. Examples from this period are increasingly sought after by collectors, particularly when retaining their original components and finish.
